Frequently Asked Questions

How many pure gases does WSM supply?

WSM supplies 53+ pure gases across all purity grades — from industrial (Grade 2.0) to research grade (Grade 6.0). This includes atmospheric gases, noble gases, reactive/toxic gases, hydrocarbons, and specialty electronic gases. All manufactured and certified at our ISO 17025 & 17034 accredited laboratory.

What is UHP argon used for?

UHP argon (99.999%) is widely used in semiconductor manufacturing for chamber purging and wafer processing, in welding as a high-purity shielding gas, in analytical laboratories for ICP and mass spectrometry, and in metal heat treatment. Demand for UHP argon is growing rapidly driven by semiconductor expansion.

Which carrier gas is best for gas chromatography?

UHP helium is the most commonly used gas chromatography carrier gas due to its low molecular weight, chemical inertness, and optimal separation efficiency. UHP hydrogen is an alternative that offers faster analysis times. UHP nitrogen is used for cost-sensitive applications. WSM supplies all three in GC-compatible grades with full COA.

Does every UHP cylinder come with a Certificate of Analysis?

Yes. Every UHP, Research Grade, Electronic Grade, and Medical Grade cylinder from WSM includes a full Certificate of Analysis (COA) with complete impurity breakdown, lot number, fill date, and expiration. NIST-traceable calibration is available upon request. Certified and Instrument Grade cylinders have COA available on request.

Can WSM supply electronic-grade gases for semiconductor fabs?

Yes. WSM supplies electronic-grade gases including UHP argon, nitrogen, helium, hydrogen, as well as specialty semiconductor gases like NF₃, BCl₃, BF₃, WF₆, SiH₄, PH₃, and B₂H₆. All produced under strict quality controls at our ISO-accredited facility with documentation suitable for cleanroom environments.

What rare gases does WSM offer?

WSM supplies noble and rare gases including Neon (Ne), Krypton (Kr), Xenon (Xe), and Deuterium (D₂) in various purity grades. These are used in lighting, laser applications, semiconductor manufacturing, nuclear research, and analytical instruments. Contact us for availability and pricing.

Does WSM ship UHP gases nationwide?

Yes. WSM delivers ultra high purity gases to all 50 U.S. states via ground freight. We also export to Latin America and the Caribbean from our strategic hubs. Standard cylinders (200, 250, 300 SCF) as well as additional sizes available. Contact us for delivery timelines.
